2022.01.19 22:47 TartKiwi Is "play to earn" as envisioned by the crypto industry fundamentally different than other methods of earning real methods through gaming? If so, how?
Just curious what everyone's take is on this, because to me it's somewhat bizarre to see influencers and commenters sort of just now having a lightbulb moment over the feasibility of play to earn. So is there something different about the direction crypto gaming is going versus traditional revenue generating techniques?
I'm sure we are all familiar with gold farming, paid carries, playing the economy on auction houses, earning, buying and selling skins, gathering materials, buying or selling accounts or rare items themselves...
How is pay to earn crypto any different?

2022.01.19 22:47 B-u-rnhakp Fridge Delivery Gone Wrong
After waiting 2 months for our new refrigerator, the delivery guys came today. They bounced the front of the fridge off the corner of our island and dented it. The delivery guy had some choice words to me, so I checked my doorbell came to see if it picked up his audio to show my wife. Long story short, it did, but what I saw was even worse. One of the guys took a hammer (nail removal end) and started furiously breaking up some ice on my stampcrete concrete. I went out to look at it, and there’s tons of hammer marks all over the concrete. No idea how that gets fixed, but wtf!
TLDR- Lowes delivery dented my new fridge and damaged my new stampcrete stairs (all on video).

2022.01.19 22:47 Nanerpus_is_my_Homie I finally got a job!!!
Thousands of applications, dozens of interviews, so many terrible and awful stories after a year and a half of searching (while employed at a shitty toxic job). I finally got an offer and a better job with better pay.
At a place that I applied to and was rejected 19 times in the past year and a half.
Finally got past the gatekeepers and an actual interview in front of a hiring manager and got the offer.
Keep fighting the good fight, thank you for keeping me sane during this time. Keep persisting!!!

2022.01.19 22:47 Litre__o__cola Using a recommendation algorithm like Youtube's could give niche content creators more exposure in event labs
I see a lot of great event lab blueprints posted on reddit, however many other events similar to these projects are left unplayed because no one knows about them. I feel while FH5's event lab feature is extremely versatile, it misses a key implementation feature which can make it infinitely more user-friendly: a recommendation algorithm.
This algorithm would keep track of the event types you play, as well as the events themselves to create a profile of what you enjoy doing the most. Whether it be B class street racing or rwd drifting, the algorithm would steadily track which events and which cars you like playing with. In addition it would also track the duration of the event and the kinds of skills you performed to more accurately depict what the event is composed of. Other players would then send in their own profiles to create interaction "webs" where events which are played most frequently by a certain "profile" of players are recommended to others which also reasonably suit that profile. The final piece of the puzzle is how these niche events are discovered in the first place.
First, there is a severe lack of control the event creator gives when publishing events and game rules. You only have a few tags such as "custom event" and the title of your blueprint to differentiate yourself from the rest. Consequently, the most popular events are currently ones which were created first on the event lab platform and have yet to be replaced because other than a "best of the week" and a general "trending" tab there are few ways to find content which you enjoy. There needs to be more autonomy in how one names their event to advertise their creation more effectively. Something simple such as letting creators use their own tags like "touge" or "cops and robbers" could drastically improve the searchability of these events and would not have to rely on share codes being posted on reddit to be found. To complement this added searchability, these tags should also be attached to the recommendation algorithm; when enough "matches" of a tag are found amongst the community, a trending tag page could be erected so players can find themed events much more quickly. As a bonus for controlling the content recommended to you, you should also get the feature of blocking certain tags from your feed in case many recommendations are categorized as something you don't like such as "xp farm" or "drag racing".
Next, the ability for a user to react to an event needs to be improved. No longer should an event's rating be solely composed of its number of plays and number of likes. In addition to liking or disliking an event, the player should be able to pick the difficulty level they thought of the event itself as well as possibly flag an event for spam. When an event is suggested, it should no longer show total number of likes, and instead should show a like / dislike ratio to help keep perception of the event honest. An example end-of-screen voting prompt could go as follows:
"Did you like the event?"

Nice to meet you! I’m 18, from NJ (EST), and I am looking for some solid friends. I’ve been trying to prioritize spending more time with friends and just unwinding in general, and I figured it is a great opportunity is also expand my social circle a bit. I would love people that are near my time zone for ease, but I have friends in Europe that I also make it work with! I won’t give away too much, but shoot me a chat and you can learn anything you want about me.

2022.01.19 22:47 HeraNotAtNight I don't know Game of Thrones but...
So in like 300 AD, this dude was invited to a wedding. The whole town was going. It was between two very VERY prominent families. But this dude was just not feeling it, he was an introvert before there was a word for it. Well, comes time for the wedding he makes his excuses saying "oh I can't, don't feel well. plague and all" so he hands off his wedding gift to his friend to bring for him. Dude spends the night chillin' at home, relaxing and kicking rocks, literally. Anyway, the next morning, he's waiting for his friend to come round to tell him about the wedding...his friend never shows. Dude walks through the town and notices there aren't as many people around today as there were yesterday. He comes to find out from the stream of blood coming from the Riverlands, that there was a mass massacre where the wedding was held and just about everyone there was violently killed. The dude surveys the blood pouring from the dining hall and says to himself, "well, damn, I missed a killer wedding."

2022.01.19 22:47 huntalittlebit Econing and fundamentals
I am currently in diamond but I feel like I am missing the fundamentals. I would run standard econ and level to 6 at 3-2 and play my best board, level 7 at 4-1, and try to do level 8 at 5-1 if im healthy or around mid. I was running a 10 game top 4 streak with multiple victories then fell into a bot 4 lose streak for the last 4-5 games. I usually push to level 8 at around 4-3 or 4-5 because i somehow find myself around 30-40 health around this stage for the last couple of games and don't think I can survive until creep round. I roll down (typically donkey rolling) to find the units I want. If i hit the units, i might finish top 4 otherwise its a guaranteed bot 4 for me. Do you roll at 7 if ur board is weak? And if you do, when do you stop? Do you just take the units they give you when you are rolling at 8? Is it wrong to force a comp (supposedly S tier)? If you lose streak intentionally at the beginning, how do you make a strong board afterwards and at what point should you go from lose streaking to trying to win streak?
